Abstract

Strengthening students’ religious character needs to be carried out through consistent and sustainable habituation. Tahfidz Al-Qur’an and Dhuha prayer activities are forms of religious habituation that can support the development of students’ religious character, discipline, and responsibility. This community service activity aimed to describe the mentoring process in optimizing morning habituation activities in the form of Tahfidz Al-Qur’an and Dhuha prayer at SDN 2 Karangwaluh through the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The method used was the ABCD approach, which consists of the stages of Discovery, Dream, Design, Define, and Destiny. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed descriptively based on observable changes during the mentoring process. The results showed that SDN 2 Karangwaluh had several assets supporting the strengthening of students’ religious character, including the support of the principal and teachers, regular Tahfidz Al-Qur’an and Dhuha prayer activities, students’ enthusiasm, and adequate prayer facilities. The mentoring activities demonstrated positive changes, including increased students’ attention during Tahfidz Al-Qur’an, greater readiness in preparing and using prayer equipment, improved orderliness in forming prayer rows, and increased participation in Dhuha prayer activities. The ABCD approach helped the school optimize its existing assets without having to establish a new program. The sustainability of these habituation activities requires consistency among teachers, positive role modeling, and support from the entire school community so that the observed behavioral changes can develop into lasting religious character.
