Schools are educational environments that have a responsibility to ensure the safety and security of students. One of the threats that may occur in schools is fire disaster, which can cause material losses and casualties. Therefore, efforts to improve preparedness through disaster mitigation education and simulation involving students actively are needed. This article aims to improve students’ understanding and preparedness in dealing with fire disasters through education and simulation and to analyze the activity from the perspective of child protection law and Maqāṣid al-Syarī‘ah, particularly Ḥifẓ al-Nafs. This activity uses the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, consisting of Discovery, Dream, Design, and Destiny stages. The approach utilizes school assets, including teachers, students, the school environment, and supporting facilities and infrastructure. The results show that education and simulation provide students with practical understanding regarding the causes of fire, self-rescue procedures, evacuation routes, and the importance of remaining calm during emergencies. From a legal perspective, disaster mitigation activities represent a preventive effort to support the protection and safety of children in educational environments. Meanwhile, from the perspective of Maqāṣid al-Syarī‘ah, the activity is consistent with Ḥifẓ al-Nafs because it aims to prevent harm and protect human life.
