This community service program aimed to describe Calistung (reading, writing, and arithmetic) mentoring for students at SDN 4 Pohijo, Ponorogo, by utilizing available school assets through an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The program involved 90 students: 30 first-grade students, 30 second-grade students, and 30 sixth-grade students. It was conducted in approximately 15 sessions, two lesson hours per session, involving three KPM students, with one mentor assigned to each grade level. The activities followed the ABCD-oriented stages of Discovery, Dream, Design, Define/Deliver, and Destiny. Data were collected through observation, an interview with one homeroom teacher, and documentation. Initial observations found that three first-grade students and five second-grade students were not yet fluent in reading, while 15 sixth-grade students experienced difficulties with basic arithmetic. Mentoring used gradual reading, writing, and arithmetic exercises, guided repetition, question-and-answer activities, and simple learning media. Qualitative observations indicated improvements in reading fluency, handwriting neatness, and accuracy in basic arithmetic after the mentoring sessions. The program indicates that human assets, particularly teachers, KPM students, and pupils, can support foundational Calistung development. However, the short KPM period and the absence of standardized assessment instruments mean that the reported progress cannot yet be expressed quantitatively.
