Abstract

Art activities in elementary schools can be one way to help students develop their creative abilities while becoming familiar with the culture found in their surroundings. One activity that can be implemented is hadroh training. In addition to providing experience in playing musical instruments, hadroh can serve as a means of introducing students to the arts that have developed within their community. This community service activity aimed to develop students’ creativity through hadroh training by utilizing local potential and local wisdom at SDN 1 Pohijo Sampung Ponorogo. The activity was conducted using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach by utilizing students’ potential, the school environment, and hadroh music as assets that could be developed. The participants consisted of 10 students from Grades IV, V, and VI. The activity was carried out through four sessions involving instrument introduction, basic rhythmic pattern practice, tempo control, variation exercises, vocal introduction, and group performances. Observations during the activity indicated that the students began to demonstrate the ability to follow basic rhythmic patterns, understand the functions of several musical instruments, maintain tempo, and coordinate their playing with other group members. In addition to developing musical abilities, the activity also provided students with experience in building teamwork and self-confidence. Hadroh training based on local potential can serve as an activity that connects learning at school with the arts and culture that develop within the surrounding community.
