Abstract

This community service activity aims to assist tobacco farmers in RT 04/RW 03, Dukuh Temon, Pagerukir Village, Sampung Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency, in strengthening Islamic educational values through the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The demanding and time-intensive nature of tobacco farming often limits farmers’ opportunities to strengthen and practice religious values in their daily lives. This condition highlights the need to integrate Islamic values into the community’s existing social and agricultural activities. The activity employed a qualitative approach based on the ABCD framework, which focuses on identifying, mobilizing, and developing community-owned assets and potentials. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and documentation. The results indicate increased community awareness and practice of Islamic educational values, particularly honesty, trustworthiness (amanah), gratitude (syukur), mutual cooperation (gotong royong), and responsibility as stewards (khalifah) on earth. These values were strengthened through community-based activities, including regular religious gatherings utilizing local resources, the integration of prayer and dhikr into agricultural routines, and the development of religious-based social capital. The findings demonstrate that integrating Islamic values into the community’s existing agricultural and social practices can encourage active participation and support the internalization of religious values. The ABCD approach therefore provides a participatory framework for empowering tobacco farmers to strengthen Islamic educational values independently and sustainably.
