Students’ learning interest in Indonesia currently faces serious challenges due to the increasing use of gadgets and digital games, which can divert children’s attention from learning and reading activities. In rural areas, particularly Pohijo Village, which is located in a mountainous region, these challenges are further compounded by limited access to supplementary tutoring institutions. This study aims to optimize the learning interest of elementary school students in Pohijo Village through supplementary tutoring activities conducted as part of the Community Service Program (Kuliah Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/KPM) using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The ABCD approach was employed to identify and mobilize community assets, particularly students’ learning interests and the potential of the surrounding environment. The tutoring activities were conducted every Wednesday and Saturday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at SDN 1 Pohijo, which has a total of 43 students. Data were collected through observations and interviews with teachers and village officials and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that although the number of students participating in the activities ranged from 7 to 9 students, their learning interest was relatively high and varied. Through the ABCD approach, previously underutilized learning interests were successfully mobilized and developed. These findings highlight the importance of utilizing local assets to support the sustainable development of education in remote areas.
