The ability to read the Qur’an is one of the essential basic skills that Muslim students need to develop. This ability is not limited to fluency in reading the letters of the Qur’an but also includes accuracy in pronouncing the letters, recognizing vowel marks, observing the appropriate length of recitation, and applying the rules of tajwid correctly. Some students are already able to read fluently, while others still experience difficulties in recognizing vowel marks, determining the appropriate length of recitation, and applying tajwid rules. This condition became the basis for implementing a Qur’an reading assistance program for students at SDN 1 Pohijo, Sampung District, Ponorogo Regency. The activity employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, an empowerment approach that emphasizes the utilization of assets and potential already available within the target environment. The participants consisted of nine students with varying levels of Qur’an reading ability. The assistance was conducted through Iqra’ reading activities, gradual reading exercises, correction of reading errors, reinforcement of tajwid, and supplementary materials covering Qur’an reading etiquette, the virtues of reading the Qur’an, memorization, and Arabic vocabulary. The assistance was carried out over several sessions from July 14 to August 27, 2026. The results showed positive development in the students’ Qur’an reading abilities. Reading errors began to decrease following repeated practice and correction. By the third meeting, several students were able to read one to three pages of Iqra’, while others were able to read one to two pages with increasingly fewer errors. These activities demonstrate that direct, gradual assistance tailored to each student’s ability can help improve reading quality while also strengthening students’ motivation to learn the Qur’an.
