Abstract

Every child is born with diverse potentials and forms of intelligence, including musical intelligence, which, if not given opportunities for actualization, may remain a latent potential. This article aims to describe efforts to optimize students’ potential in developing Islamic artistic talents through extracurricular banjari activities at SDN 4 Pohijo. The article employs the ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) approach, which consists of five stages: discovery (asset identification), dream (formulating shared aspirations), design (designing strategies), define (determining action steps), and destiny (program implementation and sustainability). Data were collected through observations of extracurricular activities, interviews with the supervising teacher, and a review of relevant documents and literature. The findings indicate that banjari activities at SDN 4 Pohijo provide an effective platform for students to develop their Islamic artistic talents, build self-confidence, foster discipline, and strengthen religious character through the habituation of reciting shalawat and making music collaboratively. The ABCD approach is relevant because it encourages schools to initiate talent development programs based on the assets and potential already possessed by students.
