Working women who receive Indonesia’s Family Hope Program (PKH) serve as breadwinners and household financial managers, making financial literacy essential to family welfare. This study examines financial education through the Family Capacity Building Meeting (P2K2) and its implications for family financial management from the perspective of hifẓ al-māl in maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach in Palopo City, data were collected through in-depth interviews with six working-woman beneficiaries, three facilitators, and one program coordinator, supplemented by observation and documentation. Data were analyzed using Miles–Huberman–Saldaña procedures with NVivo assistance. The findings reveal that P2K2 introduces budgeting through the envelope technique, although its implementation is hindered by low attendance, time constraints, established spending habits, and facilitators’ heavy caseloads. All informants prioritize essential expenditures, particularly children’s education, but only two consistently implement planned budgets. Five of six respondents save from residual income and rely on neighbor loans (qarḍ) or gold pawning (rahn) to address financial emergencies. Productive asset ownership remains limited. Viewed through the five dimensions of hifẓ al-māl, financial literacy supports spending control but remains weak in wealth accumulation and protection. Therefore, integrating Sharia-compliant saving, financing, and investment education into P2K2 is necessary to strengthen family financial resilience.
