This study aims to examine the ability of academic burnout to predict mental health among Generation Z college students in Medan. This study employed a quantitative approach involving 400 Generation Z college students aged 18–24 in Medan, selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using the Burnout Assessment Tool for Students (BAT-S) to measure academic burnout and the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) to measure mental health. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that academic burnout is a negative and significant predictor of mental health among Generation Z college students in Medan, with a regression coefficient (B) = -0.204, β = -0.474, t = -10.738, and p<0.001. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.225 indicates that academic burnout explains 22.5% of the variation in mental health. Thus, the higher the level of academic burnout, the lower the mental health of Generation Z college students in Medan.
