Abstract

The learning process in class conducted by MTs Ma'arif Munggung is still very much controlled by educators or teachers. Especially in Fiqh subjects, the teacher's activeness in class resulted in non-conducive class conditions such as there were students who were rowdy, there were also those who were bored, there were also those who slept in class, and even made students feel that they did not have the enthusiasm to take part in learning activities. This study aims to determine the effect of applying the Inquiry learning method to increasing cognitive learning outcomes of Fiqh grade 7 MTs Ma'arif Munggung Pulung Ponorogo.

This type of research is quantitative with a Quasi-Experimental technique that uses a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all VIIA, VIIB and VIIU classes, totaling 78 students. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling, while the samples were class VII U, totaling 24 students as the experimental class and class VIIA, totaling 26 students as the control class. The data collection instruments that the researchers used were tests and documentation. While the data analysis technique in this study used the "t" test technique.

Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that there was an effect of applying the Inquiry learning method to increasing cognitive learning outcomes of Fiqh grade 7 MTs Ma'arif Munggung Pulung Ponorogo.
