Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam dinamika komunikasi politik dan praktik demokrasi di era digital. Media sosial tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sarana hiburan, tetapi juga menjadi ruang baru bagi diskursus politik dan pembentukan opini publik. Salah satu platform yang mengalami pertumbuhan pesat dalam beberapa tahun terakhir adalah TikTok. Platform ini tidak hanya digunakan untuk berbagi konten hiburan, tetapi juga dimanfaatkan oleh berbagai aktor politik, aktivis, serta masyarakat untuk menyampaikan pandangan politik dan berdiskusi isu-isu publik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran TikTok sebagai arena demokrasi digital dalam proses pembentukan opini publik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur terhadap berbagai sumber ilmiah yang berkaitan dengan media sosial, demokrasi digital, dan komunikasi politik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa TikTok memiliki potensi besar dalam memperluas akses informasi politik serta meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat, khususnya generasi muda. Namun demikian, penggunaan TikTok dalam ruang politik juga menghadirkan tantangan seperti penyebaran misinformasi, polarisasi opini publik, serta pengaruh algoritma terhadap distribusi informasi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan peningkatan literasi digital masyarakat agar media sosial dapat berkontribusi secara positif terhadap praktik demokrasi.
