Pendidikan Karakter di Era Modern: Telaah Pendekatan dan Metode dalam Konteks Transformasi Pendidikan

Abstract

Character education is essential for developing a generation with intellectual competence, moral awareness, ethical values, and personal integrity. Amid digital technological advancement and globalization, character education provides guidance for moral behavior and responsible decision-making. This study aims to identify relevant approaches and methods for implementing character education among contemporary generations through a literature review of scientific journals. The findings indicate that effective approaches include value cultivation, cognitive moral development, value clarification, learning by doing, and comprehensive educational strategies. Practical methods encompass modeling, dialogue, habituation, simulation, storytelling, and integrating character values into school activities. These methods support the internalization of moral values through consistent educational experiences. Furthermore, successful character education requires active collaboration among educators, parents, and communities, supported by the responsible use of information technology and the preservation of local wisdom as cultural identity. This study contributes by mapping character education approaches and methods that connect modern challenges with local values, an aspect insufficiently integrated in previous discussions. Ultimately, systematic, structured, and sustainable character education is essential for nurturing resilient, ethical, and morally responsible young people prepared to navigate complex contemporary challenges.
