Manuscript Withdrawal

Manuscript Withdrawal Policy

Policy Statement

The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance (IJIEF) is committed to maintaining an efficient, fair, and rigorous peer-review process. Authors are generally discouraged from withdrawing a manuscript once it has entered the peer-review workflow. Withdrawal at this stage disrupts the editorial process and misallocates the substantial time and effort dedicated by handling editors, peer reviewers, and the editorial team.
Withdrawal requests are considered exceptional and will only be evaluated under well-justified circumstances.

Acceptable Grounds for Withdrawal

Withdrawal requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Acceptable grounds include, but are not limited to:
  • Identification of critical scientific, empirical, or methodological errors discovered post-submission that fundamentally invalidate the study’s conclusions.
  • Unforeseen ethical issues or legal concerns (e.g., data ownership disputes, institutional permit issues).
  • Unresolvable conflicts of interest identified during the evaluation process.
Note: Withdrawing a manuscript to submit it to another journal while it is active in IJIEF's peer-review process constitutes duplicate submission, which is a violation of publication ethics.

Withdrawal Procedure

To initiate a manuscript withdrawal, authors must adhere to the following workflow:
  1. Submit Request & Form: The corresponding author must submit a formal written request accompanied by an official Article Withdrawal Form, signed by all listed co-authors (or by the corresponding author with written consent from all co-authors).
  2. Provide Detailed Justification: The form must clearly outline the specific reasons for requesting the withdrawal.
  3. Editorial Assessment: All withdrawal requests undergo editorial review by the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief.
  4. Formal Confirmation: A manuscript is considered officially withdrawn only after written confirmation has been issued by the IJIEF Editorial Office. Until this written confirmation is provided, the manuscript remains active within IJIEF and may not be submitted to another publication outlet.

Obtaining the Article Withdrawal Form

To obtain an official Article Withdrawal Form, authors must contact the IJIEF Editorial Team directly via the contact email specified in the Contact section of the journal’s website.

Ethical Considerations and Future Submissions

IJIEF does not impose financial penalties for manuscript withdrawal. However, unjustified, last-minute (e.g., after receiving a conditional acceptance), or repeated withdrawal requests compromise editorial resources and peer-review integrity.
Such actions will be documented in the journal’s system and may be taken into consideration by the Editorial Board when evaluating future manuscript submissions from the authors involved.
