Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

AL-MIKRAJ: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Humaniora establishes the following authorship criteria to ensure transparency, accountability, and academic integrity in the publication process.

1. Criteria for Authorship

Authorship is granted to individuals who have made substantial intellectual or scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript. To qualify as an author, each individual must meet the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, the collection of data, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings.

  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.

  4. Accept accountability for their contributions and agree to take responsibility for ensuring that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals listed as authors must satisfy these criteria. Individuals who do not meet the authorship requirements but have provided relevant assistance may be acknowledged appropriately, with their consent.

2. Author Contributions

All authors are expected to make genuine and identifiable contributions to the research and manuscript. Depending on the nature of the study, contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, data collection, formal analysis, investigation, resource provision, supervision, writing the original draft, reviewing and editing the manuscript, and project administration.

For manuscripts with multiple authors, the journal encourages a clear statement of individual contributions to promote transparency and accountability. All listed authors must approve the contribution statement and the final manuscript.

3. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  1. The submitted manuscript is original and has been prepared in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

  2. All sources, data, ideas, and quotations from other works are properly cited and acknowledged.

  3. The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal and has not been published previously in substantially the same form, except where the journal has explicitly permitted an appropriate form of secondary publication.

  4. All authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission to AL-MIKRAJ: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Humaniora.

  5. The authorship list and author order have been agreed upon by all authors before submission.

  6. Any relevant conflicts of interest, funding sources, and ethical approvals, where applicable, are disclosed accurately.

  7. Any errors or concerns identified after submission or publication are communicated promptly to the journal's editorial team.

4. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial team throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the submitted manuscript, are aware of its submission status, and receive relevant editorial communications.

The corresponding author must provide accurate contact information and coordinate responses to editorial queries on behalf of the authors.

5. Author Order and Changes in Authorship

The order of authors should reflect the agreement among the authors regarding their respective contributions. AL-MIKRAJ: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Humaniora does not impose a universal author-order convention, as practices may differ across disciplines.

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and the agreement of all authors concerned, including those being added or removed. Such changes are subject to editorial review and approval. Changes to authorship must not be used to misrepresent individual contributions or circumvent publication ethics requirements.

6. Prohibition of Gift, Guest, and Ghost Authorship

AL-MIKRAJ: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Humaniora prohibits all forms of inappropriate authorship, including:

  • Gift or Guest Authorship: Listing an individual as an author despite their failure to meet the established authorship criteria, including honorary authorship based solely on seniority, position, institutional affiliation, or personal relationships.

  • Ghost Authorship: Excluding an individual who has made a substantial intellectual contribution to the research or manuscript from the author list without appropriate justification or disclosure.

  • Misrepresentation of Contributions: Claiming contributions that were not actually made or inaccurately describing the roles of authors.

Authorship must be based on actual scholarly contributions rather than personal status, professional relationships, or administrative authority.

7. Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributions

Individuals who provide technical assistance, administrative support, language editing, funding assistance, or other contributions that do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the manuscript, where appropriate. Their contributions must be described accurately, and their consent to be acknowledged should be obtained. Financial or other support must be disclosed where relevant.

8. Editorial Action

The editorial team may request clarification or supporting information concerning authorship, author contributions, or changes to the author list when necessary. Suspected authorship violations will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and research misconduct policies.

If an authorship violation is established, the journal may take appropriate action, including requesting corrections, suspending the editorial process, rejecting the manuscript, or issuing a post-publication correction or retraction where warranted.

By submitting a manuscript to AL-MIKRAJ: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Humaniora, all authors confirm that the authorship information provided is accurate, that all listed authors meet the journal's criteria, and that they accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.
